I started having freckles/dark spots when I was around 27 year old. 8 years later, I found myself covered with lots of pigmentation over my face that gave a dirty look. It really affected my self-esteem whenever I am facing clients as I am a sales representative.
My Pigmentation Removal Story- from chemical peel in the past to laser treatment in the present.
I have tried using whitening skin care products, but they only managed to brighten up my skin tone and not much results were seen over the pigmentation itself. It sort of further highlighted my freckles and dark spots due to the contrast issue. Then I visited some clinics and did a few chemical peeling treatments, after which I noticed some pigments are lightened up but my skin started getting dry, red and sensitive. I have since stop and it took a few years for my skin to recover. The pigmentation also came back worse with time.
Unable to bear the severity of my pigment issue I reached out to Beau & Hans Clinic to ask for help. During consultation, the doctor asked about my problems and I shared my past aesthetic experiences with her, she listened carefully and later examined my skin thoroughly. I was told that most of the pigmentation I had are superficially located. She explained that this commonly happens due to excessive sun exposure and can worsen by lack of sunscreen usage. She advised using Lutronic Spectra XT laser combine with Ruvy Laser to even out my skin tone and to treat my freckles. She also explained on how to correctly take care of my skin to prevent pigment rebound or recurrence after my laser treatments. l feel very well informed about my treatment process and feel very much at ease to let them handle my face.
How does Lutronic Spectra XT Laser and Ruvy Laser felt like?
I was also told the laser would sting slightly during the procedure, but only at where my freckles were, and true indeed, the whole experience was quite tolerable. The whole procedure took around 20 minutes to finish as I had so many freckles and sun spot on my face. After the laser treatment, all the freckles looked slightly darker in color, the surrounding skin around the freckles were very red and it felt like I just got a sun burn. The sun burn sensation lasted about half an hour after my treatment, after which the hot sensation slowly subsided within the day itself.
At home, I use adequate amount of moisturizer provided by the clinic to hydrate the skin, and repeatedly applied sunblock in the morning, afternoon and late afternoon. I try to avoid the sun as much as possible. Even with the downtime, my daily routine and other activities were not affected at all by the treatment process. The scabs from the freckles took about a week to recover and each time I feel that my pigmentation are getting reduced.
How about the overall result?
After 4 rounds of Lutronic Nd:YAG laser combine with Ruvy laser, the freckles on my face has faded significantly, my skin tone is more even out compared to before. Thanks to the doctor’s thorough advise on routine skin care, I felt that my skin wasn’t red or sensitive compare to my past experience with chemical peel.
I’m keeping to this skin care routine for now, and reapplying sunscreen every few hours as told, especially if I was going outdoors, to prevent the freckles from coming back and to maintain an even skin tone. I am currently very happy with the results and I encourage those who are having similar problems like me to seek help at professional skin clinics to solve your problem.
