AGNES Radiofrequency (RF), was introduced as a global aesthetic practice for minimally invasive skin treatment. It has been approved by the FDA in USA since 2017, and it has been well adopted by the Plastic Surgery, Dermatology, and Aesthetic Field ever since.
What is Radiofrequency?
Radiofrequency is a type of energy which is measured in “frequency,” or wavelengths per second. Like any form of energy, RF has the capacity to produce heat. When using RF on skin, the heat is generated via resistance of the skin and thus promotes new collagenesis, which is great for treating wrinkles, scars and pores reduction. When using RF on soft tissue it can provide specific outcome, such as electro-thermolysis, on selective sebaceous glands and adipose tissue.
Uniqueness of AGNES Radiofrequency
One advantage of using RF on skin is that with low frequency of RF, it can safely penetrate a deeper level of skin tissue to improve the underlying skin structure. Furthermore, RF can safely treat patients with different skin color without causing any permanent discoloration risks.
AGNES RF uses partially insulated small needles selectively to treat the targeted tissue while protecting the surface of the skin (the epidermis) from any burn injury.
The role of AGNES RF Treatment on Recurring Acne & Oil gland issue
Recurring acne can appear in the form ranging from comedone to big inflamed acne, cystic acne is usually seen in recurring acne at the same areas. AGNES RF can precisely target and destroy the problematic sebaceous glands, providing an effective solution to stop chronic recurring acne without having to bear the side effects of anti-acne drug therapy. Once the sebaceous glands are destroyed, acne will subside and it will unlikely to recur again at the same areas.
Key Benefits:
- Low recurrence
- No systemic side effects from oral anti-acne medication
- Safely protects the superficial epidermis of the skin
Indicated for
- Active Acne with comedones or with cystic acne
- Other Oil gland issue such as syringoma, blackheads, enlarged pores
- Eyebag result from accumulation of fat
- Double Chin and Jawline tightening
How is the procedure carried out?
To reduce any discomfort during procedure, a topical numbing cream is applied to the skin prior to treatment. After which, the RF will be carried out and it takes about 30mins to 1hour of treatment per session. Patients often described the sensation as a warm to hot prickly sensation. The discomfort level is often described as mild.
How do I take care of my skin after AGNES RF?
After the treatment, your skin may feel hot. Patient is instructed to wait until the next morning to wash the treated areas, and to use ice water to do so. Usually the discomfort will be much reduced after the first 24 hours. Patient is then allowed to use a mild cleanser to cleanse the face, but to avoid product with exfoliants such as scrubs; anti-ageing or whitening products; toner containing high alcohol contents.
How is the healing period?
You may experience some redness and swelling immediately after the treatment and usually these would subside in less than a week. The debris and impurities from destroyed sebaceous gland will form pustules, concealed clogged pores or deep seated acne will have eruptions occurring also, an early appointment will be given for follow up to remove these to aid in healing.
Once the treated acne subsides some of them might appear to be slightly pinkish in color, this can last for a few weeks. Sun protection is compulsory throughout the healing period, but you can start putting on light make after the first week itself.
Healing depends on how intensive the RF treatment was, and also on how fast each individual usually heals. Sometimes during the healing period, combined soothing therapy such as hydration treatment or skin soothing procedure are suggested to reduce post-RF healing time. Feel free to discuss with your doctor regarding any adjuvant options to help your skin heal faster.
When will I see results, how many treatments would I need?
Results depends on the severity of your acne, as well as the existence of other underlying skin disorder or sensitivity. Extensive treatment, poor skin care, poor dieting habits, smoking and alcohol intake, or anything causing dehydration to your skin can cause poor wound healing. But you will definitely be able to notice progress with your acne reduction after each AGNES RF treatment.
Generally, patient will require 3-4 sessions of RF treatments to achieve a more significant result.
